Perth is the capital city for Western Australia. It is the entry point for most tourists visiting the state and has both an international and domestic airport with regular flights to overseas destinations and with in Australia. It is located on the banks of the Swan River in the south west corner of the state. Perth is known as an extremely liveable city with fantastic surfing beaches along its Indian Ocean coastline, a superb Mediterranean climate. Perth also hosts, two AFL football teams and is the home of the WACA where Australia takes on other cricketing nations in annual contests that are watched around the country. Off the coast is Rottnest Island which is a favourite holiday and day trip destination for boat lovers and fishermen from the greater Perth district. Here you will find spectacular bays and headlands, fantastic beaches and unique wildlife species like the Quokka which is a very small member of the kangaroo family.

The beaches of Perth are one of its greatest and most popular assets. Excellent surf conditions almost always attract thousands of locals to their pure white sands. The adjoining port city of Fremantle not only handles most of Western Australia’s imports but also is famous for its restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. The old city centre has been fully renovated and now presents a cosmopolitan mixture of eateries, boutique shopping and entertainment venues. Other places of interest to visit in Perth include the Perth Zoo and the Old Mill. To the west of the city lies the Swan valley. Here you will find rolling hills covered with wildflowers or numerous vineyards and orchards. This is a must see region and during the wildflower season in the spring, many organised tours are available to take you to see them. Kings Park is also a great place to visit and provides panoramic views over the Swan River and the city itself. Another popular attraction in Perth is a cruise on the river and these take you past some interesting places like millionaires row where the rich and famous have built striking mansions along the river front.

The city centre is a great place to visit with fantastic shopping in the CBD area. Restaurants and cafes abound and there is a wide choice of Perth accommodation on offer. The suburbs of Perth like Mandurah, are also a great place to visit with plenty of local shopping plazas.
